Luise Kimme, born in Germany in 1939, made her home and studio in Tobago from 1979 onwards. Her subjects for sculpture come from dance, mythology, and religion. She has been making lost wax sculptures in Santiago de Cuba for 8 years. Similar ideas appear in her embroideries. The show is called Firebird, after a ballet, the music by Stravinsky, and a lot of the designs are inspired by the Russian painter and costume designer, Léon Bakst, who worked for Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes.
